August 29th, 2019

Math - So far this year, we have worked on the following concepts.

Congruence - My Life Transformations where we moved a shape around the cartesian plane, each move related to an event in student's lives.  We submitted this assignment.
We spent a day doing fun graphing of caricatures on cartesian planes as a review from last year.

We defined the Key Words for chapter 2, Rates, Ratios and Proportional Reasoning
We spent three days working on Ratios, and submitted Worksheet 2.1 for marks.

We reviewed the Divisibility Rules for 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 & 10 and did a practice worksheet on it.

We have just spent the last two days working on Rates, including Unit Rates and Price Rates

That is where we currently stand, and will pick up on Rates on Tuesday, September 3rd

Science - So far this year, we have worked on the following concepts.

WHMIS symbols - we have learned the symbols used for materials and chemicals found in our homes and our places of work, including this school.  We watched videos to reinforce these ideas.

Students chose a symbol to represent on their WHMIS posters, which were turned in for grades.

We went over lab safety rules, including a Minions PowerPoint, and a Zombie video.  Students completed a small poster demonstrating the importance of following one on the 15 lab safety rules from our textbook.  This will also be marked.

We have just learned the definitions for Procedure, Controlled Variables, Manipulated Variables and Conclusion.  We have also been working on Procedure using our classroom radio, along with Qualitative and Quantitative Observations, Inference and Hypothesis, which brings us to today where students completed a short activity determining where statements made fell among these 4 concepts.

Hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend and I look forward to continuing where we left off on Tuesday
